Business Letter Writing Sample : Applying For Claiming Refund Of Tickets From The Railways



This Letter should be written in The Letter-Pad of the Company.



Refund of unused reserved waitlisted RAC and unreserved are always admissible before departure of train.


But after departure of the train refund is admissible only upto fixed hours as under.


1. Reserved / RAC/ waitlisted tickets upto 200 km refund is permissible upto three hours.


2. Reserved / RAC/ waitlisted tickets for more than 200 km and upto 500 km refund is permissible upto six hours.


3. Reserved/ RAC/ waitlisted tickes more than 500 km refund is permissible upto twelve hours.


4. In case refund is not arranged by station staff due to time limit or any other reason, passenger must deposit ticket immediately with head ticket collector’s office and obtain ticket deposit receipt and apply for refund in wording to chief commercial manager (refunds) of HQ of zonal railway issuing the TDR.
