Subject : Application for the position of A Civil Engineer

Dear Sir,

I have come to know through Mr. J.P. Teerath, Manager - Marketing at your Kolkata office that you are in need of a Civil Engineer for your new Bridge Project at Hubli.

I have been associated with site work and had three years of experience in civil construction. I had been responsible for the designing, budgeting and timely completion of the assigned construction work and I had earned the name of elegantly carrying out the job successfully.

I am of the firm opinion that my qualifications, experience and past performance shall be very useful for you in deciding my candidature for the ensuing bridge project without any problem. I am very interested in associating with a leading firm like yours as it gives me a distinct recognition and I shall also learn from working with you. I am enclosing my resume for your kind consideration that will tell you in detail about my academic and technical qualifications as well as about my past experience and performance.

I would appreciate the opportunity of a personal interview to discuss my credentials in detail.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely yours,

S. Raizada

NOTE : The well written letter that accompanies your resume introduces you to your prospective employer. The letter explains where you learned about the job, tell why you are interested and highlight what parts of your background make you the most suitable for the position. A bad letter can tempt the employer to put aside your resume without even reading it. Always address letter to the concerned person. Try to find out TO WHOM you should address your letter. For jobs posted on websites, this is usually difficult to locate. In case you are unable to locate the name of the person you are to address your letter, make sure at least to address the cover letter in proper designation.

Example :

Chief Manager - HRD

General Manager - Personnel
