In today’s world when there is very tough competition in all fields, being unique is the only way to move ahead. The cover letter must induce the hiring authority to take your resume seriously and want to look at it. The cover letter must set the reader’s expectations of what will be in the CV / Resume. The cover letter should be written in such a way that causes the employers to believe in the first instance that you are a suitable candidate for the position. The cover letter is especially more useful if the application proforma does not give you an opportunity to mention necessary facts about your suitability for the position. Care should be taken not to insert such facts in the cover letter that you are unable to support / prove.

The cover letter should be laid our in such a way that it is visually attractive, neither squashed nor with a blank space at the end.
