NOTE : The well written cover letter that accompanies your resume introduces you to your prospective employer. The letter explains where you learned about the job, tell why you are interested and highlight what parts of your background make you the most suitable for the position. A bad cover letter can tempt the employer to put aside your resume without even reading it. Always address cover letter to the concerned person. This is one of the sample employment letters.

Writing a cover letter is not always as simple and straight forward as might be supposed. It is worth taking time to create the best possible first impression. Size, quality of paper, layout and neatness all contribute to this effect. By the time the letter has been read, the employer will have been influenced not only by its contents but also by the way it has been presented and written.

Try to find out TO WHOM you should address your cover letter. For jobs posted on websites, this is usually difficult to locate. In case you are unable to locate the name of the person you are to address your cover letter, make sure at least to address the cover letter in proper designation.

    Example :

    Chief Manager - HRD

    General Manager - Personnel

    Chief - HRD
