Entry Level Resume : Entry Level Resume is the least done and potentially the most effective since it will stand out with any employer receiving it. Very few entry level people have a resume. Just having one demonstrates creativity, good judgment, a willingness to go the extra mile, and a respect for your employer. What is the entry level employer looking for? Essentially three things : · Will you show up? · Will you do the work? · Will you get along with the boss? If you do those three things, you are clearly in their A pile. A resume in this category will give you the benefit of the doubt and show that you will probably do all three. Note the emphasis on what you will do, not what you can do. This is what you need to emphasize in your resume in this category. Attendance awards are rarely mentioned but very important. If you even mention it, the reader knows you at least respect that aspect of work. Few people who are habitually late or absence give the subject a second of thought so your proclaiming an attendance record will set you apart and set you up for the job you are seeking. If you don't have an award for, deal with it by saying, 100% attendance 3 years in a row, or somethinglike that. This addresses question one : Will you show up? Emphasize flexibility by demonstrating you have done a variety of tasks willingly in the past. Whatever a factory or organization hires you to do today, they will need you to do something else shortly. This is the reverse of the old adage, Don't be a jack of all trades and a master of known. They want you to be willing to shift around in terms of tasks, hours, and locations. This addresses question two : Will you do the work? Emphasize minor promotions of leadership such as training new workers, being a lead shift person while still working, being assigned to open or close a factory, office, store or department. These kinds of accomplishments demonstrate the boss trusted you. This addresses question three: Will you get along with the boss? Finally, emphasize the speed in which you get things done. Product and service costs relate to the hours to get them done. If you work faster, the boss and organization will have a favorable cost variance and will look good. That's what they want so you should emphasize your ability and willingness to do this in order to get the job you want. Entry Level Resume to HOME PAGE |
