Forms

Forms :

Organizations like forms but they are rarely helpful and usually unnecessarily complex. Work hard to make all of your forms, whether product or service information, leases, credit applications, as simple as you can. Seek ways to get information from your customers without having to punish them for it.

New organizations have the opportunity to start without forms. If you are a new organization, start without forms. If you are an older organization, you can increase your profits by eliminating as many as you can and simplifying the rest.

Go to www.irs.gov for the few forms employees must complete for tax and reporting purposes. A W -2 is all you usually need. The less you have the less you have to defend. This goes for all forms.

We have no credit manager or credit forms at Simply Magazine. Our prospective customers are either big enough to be checked out online or small enough so that a loss would not be unduly painful. To protect ourselves against a lot of little losses, wehave a standard $99 for 100 CD offer on our website for customers who buy up to $1000. We give them great prices in exchange for payment in advance, and therefore we don􀂶t need any other information from them.

Forms are a menace to profitability and customer satisfaction. Do your level best to get rid of all you can and don't start new ones.

One of my favorite moments came with the Kroger Merchandise Manager Mike Jacks, who handed me the Kroger Credit Application information with a wink and a nod. I had told him about our simplicity approach and he wanted to show us how small vendorstormented Kroger for credit information, easily available on the web through their public stock records.

I still chuckle when I think of the vendor names on the Kroger list. They showed credit lines of one billion dollars each with Coke, Kraft, and P & G, with the appropriate contact information at these firms.

Nothing can withstand the assault of laughter, as Mark Twain said. Remember the above when a form is suggested or you get the bright idea yourself. Most forms are simply part of process without any useful economic end in mind.

Email Attachments & Forms

You do need crisp, clear, attachments for emails that provide essential ordering information for your customers. Work hard to make them concise and complete. This is an effective and efficient way to influence current and prospective customers to buy and buy more, without waiting for phone calls or additional meetings. This can work equally well with project lists for contractors, information for suppliers, and persuasivedata for banks, financial institutions, and current and prospective investors.

Tip : Use Adobe to bring some color to these documents and you will increase their effectiveness substantially.
