What is an Objective Statement?
Immediately below the top section of a resume (containing your contact information, name address, telephone numbers, e-mail address etc.), there is usually a section with one of these headings.
Usually the Objective Statement comprises 1-3 lines of text summarizing the position you are applying for and/or your main qualifications.
Need of Objective Section in Your Resume :
(a) The objective section is an important part of your resume and might be the first thing the employers look at.
(b) The objective section your resume provides a brief introduction to your career objective and the type of job you are interested in.
Employers on an average take only 30-40 seconds in skimming the resume. When the employer opens up your resume, the objective section is the first one that catches his eyes. Your objective should be well commensurate with the position being sought.
Please note that the objective section may put of the employer if the objective mentioned is different from the job applied for or if it is too vague. The objective should be well focused and targeted. Targeting means that the objective should appear to be clear. If you aren’t clear about your goal, you wind up wherever the winds blow you by luck.
Even if you are a little vague about what you are looking for, you must not let your uncertainty being reflected through the objective. With a vague or overly broad objective, the first impression you create on the employer is that you are not sure about your compatibility for the job and thus you lose the change of getting even an interview call.
