Dear _____________,

It would appear we have a mutual friend. I've known Jagdisha Das since the early 1970s, when we were both volunteers in a local literacy program. We were both in college at the time and ended up becoming roommates and close friends.

Last year we had the opportunity to renew our friendship when my job brought me to Chennai. At the gym the other day, I mentioned to Jagdisha I had decided it was time for a career change. She suggested I contact you to see if you might be able to providesome insight in terms of career transition. She said you were well connected to the publishing community in Chennai.

I have an M.B.A. from Bengal University and 14 years experience in financial management. For the past four years I have served as director of finance for Wordtech, Inc., an educational materials publishing company originally based in Chicago. As Imentioned, last year the move of our financial offices brought me to the Selam area. I have enclosed a copy of my resume for your review.

I love the publishing industry and have thoroughly enjoyed the challenges and opportunities I have encountered while being a part of Wordtech. However, I am interested in applying my experience and skills within another part of the publishingindustry, specifically book publihing.

If your schedule permits I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this further with you in person. We could meet for coffee or lunch at a time that is convenient. I willcontact your office next Tuesday morning to see if it might be possible for us to get together.

My thanks and sincere appreciation for your time and consideration.

Yours Sincerely,
