This is a sample Letter to Pen Pal in Germany. Meerut, 9th May - 2005 My dear Victor, It is very queer that you have cold season all the year round in Germany. We, in India, have four seasons. So, we enjoy a regular rotation of seasons and change of climate one after the other. Each season has its beauty and plays an important role in our life. These seasons are summer, the rains, the autumn and the winter. In summer, the scorching sun and hot winds dry up almost every herb and shrub. The heat becomes unbearable. It hardens the soil, dries up pools and streams. We have scarcity of water at times during summer months. It makes people tired and restless. The summer is followed by the rainy season which is peculiar to the Indian subcontinent. The rains that we get here is mainly the monsoon rains. It is nothing but the seasonal reversal of the wind from Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal. Although my place doesn’t experience heavy rainfall from the monsoon, the coastal and peninsular India very much comes under the influence of the monsoon. Cyclones with a wind speed ranging from 100 kms to 200 kms lash the coastal areas causing flood and even a change in the course of the river like Bramhaputra which goes in spate. Heavy damage is incurred to the land and the people. Croplands get submerged under water. Men and cattle are swept away in the water. Recently the state of Orissa was devastated by a similar cyclone with a wind speed on 250 kms./hour. Now the state is slowly on its way back to normalcy. But then the damage and loss is so abundant that recovery is very difficult in some places where it has been cut off from the rest of the places. After the rainy season, comes the autumn. This is a season of peace and plenty. The whole landscape seems to be smiling with crops. The gardens are full of fruits and the crops ripen. Then comes the winter season. The days are shorter and nights longer. The climate is bracing and invigorating. Most part of north India come under the influence of the snow fall in the Himalayas. If there occurs snow fall in the Himalayas, the temperature down in the plains also decreases. Delhi, the capital city, experiences a bitter winter with minimum temperature falling to 2C. Down south, the winter is not as severe as in the north. There exists pleasant climate in the south during winter. January is the coldest month in the country. Then comes the spring season. Considered to be the queen of all seasons, spring is being welcomed by the entire country. It is the season of festivals and harvest. The air becomes balmy and fragrant. Flowers of various kinds and hues blossom. I hope, you too will write few more things about your country and people in your next letter. Yours Sincerely, Jyotsna This is a sample Letter to Pen Pal in Germany. Letter to Pen Pal in Germany to HOME PAGE |
