Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I stronglyoppose he Central Government's decision to exclude the use ofloud Speakers for religious purposes.
The use of loudspeakers for religious purposes has alreadyassumed alarming proportions as there are no restrictions fromthe reinforcing agencies. Loudspeakers at religious places aresilent only for a few hours after midnight but they start blaringout early in the morning the next day.
Loudspeakers and bands used in marriages cause much strain tothe people as this noise is in addition to the daily noise of horns from vehicular traffic. The authorities have registered 100decibels of sound at peak hours. Life has become horriblebecause of noise pollution and air pollution.
This decision of the Central Government will give uncontrolledfreedom to the users of loudspeakers for religious purposes.Human sentiments must be given precedence to the religioussentiments of the people.
Keeping the above in view, I appeal to the government to reviewits decision and limit the level of sound at which the loudspeakers can be used for religious purposes.
