Thank you for suggesting that RayTex switch to an automated telephone answering system. We actually looked into it a few years ago and found it would save our administrative assistants a significant amount of time. However, we also conducted a customer survey; the results of that survey revealed clients prefer having their calls answered by a real person rather than by a recording. Other studies have shown that companies with automated answering systems usually have lower rates of customer satisfaction.


Despite the fact that answering calls pulls administrative assistants away from their other duties, we consider customer contact one of their most important responsibilities. Hence, we have continued to have our staff answer the phones. Thanks again for your suggestion. I’m glad you have your eyes open for opportunities to conserve our resources.
