Memorandum Regarding Daycare Health Clinic

Memorandum Regarding Daycare Health Clinic :

This Memorandum should be typed in the official letter-head of the company.

TO :

As you know, 90 percent of our employees are parents, and 75 percent of those parents have children ages newborn to 12. Interestingly enough, 95 percent of the sick days called in are due to a parent having to stay home with a sick child. Further investigations show that only 3 percent of these children have a serious or communicable condition. Rather, the majority of these children have minor colds, ear infections, and stomach aches, as well as typical childhood diseases such as measles or mumps.

We would substantially reduce absenteeism if we were to set up a daytime health clinic for employees' sick children. In-house studies reveal we lose an average of one to three employees per day due to a sick child at home. Employing two nurses to staff a children's clinic is well within our budget. By paying two additional salaries, we save a substantial amount in sick leave pay. Furthermore, we already have several downstairs rooms that could easily be converted into a children's health clinic.

There will be a meeting to discuss the proposed children's clinic next week. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, let me know.
