Message Writing :
We are in a type of world where we are expected to leave messages to our colleagues, friends, family friends, family members, sub-ordinates, etc. Here we have taken up the topic of message-writing which is otherwise not-well-known-topic but interesting one. We have to discuss all the points to write message effectively. We have arranged the materials by sub-topics which have been dealt with in details.
What is a Message?
A message is a means of written communication. It is a brief note.
We send messages both to people we know and we don’t know.
Messages to the people we know can be colloquial and informal in language.
Messages to people that we do not know should be formal and straightforward in language.
We need to write messages when we want to tell someone something urgent and we are unable to contact the person either at home or through telephone.
What is NOT a Message?
A message isn’t a title or an explanation of what you are doing. It is merely the single most important point you need to make to express your purpose.
Before you write the message...
1. Is this what you would say to your friend face-to-face?
2. Would it make sense to him / her on its own?
3. Is it appropriate?
4. Would your friend understand what you want to say by just taking a cursory glance at your message?
