    The modals do not have -ing forms and -ed forms.

    For permission – can, could, may and might

    Possibility – can, could, may and might

    Ability – can, could

    Entertain - will, shall

    Probability condition - should, would

    Obligation – shall, must, ought to, need and have to

    Negative obligation – must not, need not

    Habitual action in past – used to

    Bold action – dare

    Willingness – would
