Perfect Gerund

Perfect Gerund :

There are three kinds of gerunds.

  • Present Gerund : (working, speaking)

  • Perfect Gerund : (having worked, having spoken)

  • Passive Gerund : (being written, having been written)

    He was accused of deserting his shop

    He denied having been there.

    I remember being taken to circus as a small child.

    Examples :

    Gerund is formed by adding ING to a verb walking, playing, drinking etc.

    1. It is used as subject. :

      Walking is a good exercise.

      Smoking is prohibited.

      Typing –speed is must to have a good career in clerical field.

    2. It is used as object. :

      I enjoy playing tennis.

      They enjoy ridding on horse.

      WE like walking in the early morning.

    3. It is used as an object of preposition. :

      I am fond of swimming.

      I am interested in playing chess.

      He is used to eating his meals before 1 pm.
