Personnel Department : That department in any organisation which is responsible for hiring, training and testing of candidates and also takes into consideration the other kinds of administrative tasks related with that work force. It also looks after work force such as posting notices as required by law or at the direction of management, maintenance of each employee’s personnel file, tracking eligibility for benefits and keeping records of participation, filing claims, etc. in addition, the personnel department may be responsible for other programmes, such as for safety or health or the publication of a company newsletter.

Personnel Management : The study related and applicable to programmes for attracting, screening, training and retaining good employees of the type and number required by the company. In simple terms the term personnel management means the study of employees mind and nature to study what they need, how they need and thus how they can be utilized in best possible manner.
