RAM, Random Access Memory, Random Sampling, Range :

RAM = Random Access Memory : a high-speed memory that a user can access without relating in any way to the previous accesses. Such memory is responsible for temporarily holding the programmes and the data being processed. In case the computer is shut down, one loses the content of such memory.

Random Sampling : the process of selecting a number of items in such a manner that the choice of each one of them is independent of all the previous choices which indicates that no set pattern of selection is followed. Random sampling normally finds its usage in quality control testing which follows the theory that the sample which is placed regularly, for instance the first item of each batch of one hundred or timed regularly as picked or chosen at a specific time of the day is more prone to reveal a pattern of defects that is not similar to the pattern that might be found if the whole lot were inspected.

Range : all the values that can be taken up by a variable. When taken in context of a spreadsheet or database, it is indicative of the limits that are defined by a user for the data that is affected by a command
