Dear ____,

Your call center suggested we request in writing an inspection of tree damage to our house. They suggested a letter or email since the damage is not life threatening or subject, within reason, to further deterioration even if your adjuster takes a few extradays to inspect the site.

The damage is behind our garage and can be inspected without entering the house. He or she can have access through the shed door in the back at any time. So the adjuster is welcome to do this at any time that suits him or her.

Hopefully this flexibility will help the adjuster's schedule and make things easier all the way around.

Best regards.

Thanking you.

Yours Sincerely,

The adjuster who came to the house to inspect our tree damage made a determination that was less than necessary to get a local company to fix the problem to our roof.

I have enclosed the three quotes we got and hope you can change the claim so we can have one of the companies fix the roof appropriately.

If you have a better suggestion, or another company, we would welcome your expertise to get the roof fixed.

Let us know if you can either raise the claim amount to cover the repairs or suggest another vendor who can do the job within your claim range (which would be ideal for both of us)!

Thanks again for your prompt attention to our problem.

Best regards.

Both letters work to position the writer as the good cooperative guy trying to work with the insurance company in the most appropriate way. Insurance adjusters essentially work to determine the credibility of the claimant first. Then everything else is considered second. I have had several claims accepted over the phone, for example, and several others done in writing without a personal visit or inspection relating to theinsurance issue. I have done this by being supportive of the insurance company and by showing a sincere effort to accommodate their needs as to time of inspection and information to be provided.
