After completing an informational interview with Ann James, Director of Human Resources for Grew-Hill in Cleveland, she suggested I write to you. I would like to express my interest in an entry-level human resources management position with Grew-Hill. Ms.James informed me that the Chennai office is one of the larger, more progressive offices.
We discussed the many qualities required for an entry-level position and I believe my skills and qualifications appear to closely match those traits. As you can see on my enclosed resume, I will receive a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Saint Mary's College in May of 2001. My liberal arts education provides me with the strong communication, problem-solving, decision-making and critical thinking skills required in the human resource management field. Through courses in Personnel Management and Organization Theory, I have gained knowledge of selection procedures, interviewing skills and Equal Employment Opportunity Laws. Additionally, I have worked as a student intern in the Human Resource Department of Memorial Hospital in South, by working closely with the Industrial Relations Director, I became familiar with many facets of Human Resources.
As a volunteer counselor for a crisis intervention center, I combined my communication, decision-making and critical thinking skills with an understanding of human development and behavior modification. In addition, I utilized effective organization and planning skills in coordinating speakers for the student chapter of Toastmasters. I am confident that I can successfully utilize these skills at McGraw-Hill.
During April 5-11, I will be in Chicago and would like to meet with you to discuss how I may Serve your organization. I will call on March 15 to inquire about the possibility of arranging a mutually convenient time. Thank you for your time and consideration.
