Sentence Pattern

Sentence Pattern :

We can separate a sentence into difference parts as subject, verb, complement and adverb.

1. SUBJECT is the doer of the action in a sentence.

Karuppan is a doctor.

(Karuppan : This is the subject.)

Mahesh plans carefully.

(Mahesh : This is the subject.)

A postman delivers letters.

(A Postman : This is the subject.)

2. VERB gives details about the doe’s action.

Manju studies well.

(studies : This is the verb.)

Ravichndran is an intelligent farmer.

(is : This is the verb.)

He goes to college.

(goes : This is the verb.)

3. Complement is the doer of the action in a sentence.

Ragu was elected chairman.

(chairman : This is the complement.)

His brother is intelligent.

(intelligent : This is the complement.)

Ramesh is an engineer.

(engineer : This is the complement.)

4. Adverbial explains something more about verb.

He performed badly.

(badly : This is the adverbial.)

The president gave away the prices.

(away : This is the adverbial.)

They walked fast.

(fast : This is the adverbial.)

The adverbials are called adjuncts also.

They are additional.
