Should the resume be folded? : What if your degree is from a foreign country? You should well mention it and you can also say that Degree equivalent to Indian Bachelor’s Degree. In some cases, a Degree from a foreign university will add more power to your resume. But this is not so always. So, never expect a miracle for your foreign degree. What about using fancy paper for writing the resume? Employers usually hate fashionable resume. It means that the resume is on a coloured or beautiful parched paper. They think they’re phony and toss them right out. Candidates should use plain white or ivory paper of good quality for writing up the resume. Should you fold your resume? One should not fold the resume right along a line of text. The ink may flake off along the fold. Should you include personal information, like father’s name, date of birth, marital status, height and weight in the resume? In India, candidates are required to write father’s name, date of birth, sex, and marital status in the resume. In other countries, mentioning these personal information is not required. But do not add too much of personal information. Just few information regarding about the family back-ground is enough. Where are the Keywords? Now-a-days a number of large and medium sized companies are using technology to store resumes. The only hope a job seeker has of being found in an applicant search is the inclusion of relevant industry keywords. These do not have to be a separate section. Rather they can be sprinkled throughout the resume. A good way to determine keywords is to read job descriptions for positions that interest you. If you see industry buzzwords, incorporate them into your resume. In addition, you go the website of the company to which you are applying and find the keywords which are widely used there.
