The Greetings in The Business Letters

The Greetings in The Business Letters :

It is also called the salutation.

The greeting in a business letter is always formal.

It normally begins with the word DEAR and always includes the person’s last name.

In normally has title such as – Mr. & Mrs. or a political title.

Use the first name only if the title is unclear.

The greeting in a business letter does not require a colon or comma in the end.

Names and Titles of People :

Use the full name in standard writing unless the person uses an initial as part of his or her name.

Example :

Gerorge Smith
Robert E.Lee

The initial E is fine here in the later case. Because that is the name he (Robert E. Lee) went by

Social titles before a proper name are capitalized. All but Miss and Master are abbreviated and end with a period.

Social Titles :

Mr., Master, Mrs., Miss, Ms.
Mlle., Mme., M., Messrs (plural of Mr.or M.)
Mmes. (plural of Mrs., Ms., Mme.)

This is a typical letter. You have to add your company's name with full address. And the receiver's name and full address also should be added in the place allotted for that purpose. Without those primary details no letter carries any significance. So, you are requested to provide all those important details. Failing which the letter will make a wrong impression about your company and you among the receivers of your letters. This is the most unwanted attitude on your side in dealing with the clients who are the most valued assets of any business organisation. If necessary, leave those spaces blank.
