The cover letter should express why you are interested in the job and it should also contain in brief why you feel yourself suitable for the position.


It should not usually be more than one side of A4 paper.


The cover letter is sually typed. Some companies specifically ask to send the cover letter handwritten, in such case, you must send a handwritten letter.


The cover letter should be free from spelling and grammatical errors.


If you know the name of the hiring person, then address your letter by name to the hiring official but if you don’t know the name, the letter should be addressed in the name of the designated official like : The General Manager (Personnel), The Manager (H.R) as given in the advertisement.


Use correct endings : YOURS SINCERELY when you have addressed the letter in the name of an individual ----- otherwise YOURS FAITHFULLY


The cover letter should always be signed and also write name under the signature.
