What to do if one does not have experience? : What is a resume anyway? It’s a formal document aimed to promote the candidate in the best possible way by displaying his qualifications, abilities, skills and experience in such a way as to be called for an interview for the position he has applied for. What is the best way to improve a resume? Resume must contain only the factual information. It should neither be too short nor too long. Keep it concise, clear, unambiguous and compact. Tailor your resume according to needs of the job applied for. How do you decide whether to use a Chronological Resume or a Functional one? The Chronological format is widely preferred by employers and works well if the candidate is not changing his field and just applying for the same line of job. The Functional format is used when the candidate is going to change his field and his line of job. When you want to give more importance to your performance of functions than the number of years of your experience, Functional Format is used. What if you do not have any experience in the kind of work you want to do? Experience plays very importance role in getting a good job and in getting good remuneration. If you don’t have any experience, try to get it. Find a place that will let you do some volunteer work right away. You must have some experience. An employer needs an experienced employee. What do you do if you have gaps in your hob history? First of all, remember that if there is any gap in your job history due to any reason, don’t try to hide that. Mention what you have been doing in that period. Hiding or putting wrong facts can be dangerous. Write what you were doing as gracefully as possible rather than leave a gap. Insert that into the job history section of your resume to fill the gap. Here are some examples. 2003 - 05 - Full-time parenting 1998 - 99 - Maternity leave 1997 - 99 - Full time study (MBA) 2004 - 05 - Full time caring old and ill mother What to do if one does not have experience? to HOME PAGE |
