Change of Buyer or Consignee :

Prior approval of RBI is not required if after goods have been shipped they are to be transferred to a buyer other than the original buyer in the event of default by later, provided the reduction in value, if any, involved does not exceed 10% and the realisation of export proceeds is not delayed beyond the period of six months from the date of shipment. Where the reduction in value exceeds 10%, the conditions stipulated for reduction in value should also be satisfied.

It has been clarified that authorised dealers may at the request of exporter allow change of tenor of bills in respect of bills drawn on the original buyer or the alternate buyer, provided the revised due date or payment does not fall beyond six months from the date of shipment, If the change of tenor takes place before the original due date of payment of the bill.
