Interview Questions and Answers :
Consider first the situational context of the question. Model your responses to the organisation. What is the team environment of the organisation that you are interviewing for? It may be a strong, organised team-based work environment or it may be based on informal authority and fluctuating teams. Ideally, you should have had an opportunity to research and ask some questions about the organisation to determine how it operates. This will also help you decide if you really want to work in that environment.
You would describe yourself as a good team member. While doing so ask how you would fit into a new team. How would you get cooperation from other team members. What do you think the organisation's biggest problem is relative to teams and team-building. And, what solution could you provide.
Your relationship with your fellow workers affects productivity.
How do you get along with your teammates? Try combining courtesy and understanding to build a unified department. A good response would take into consideration the following aspects of a good team.
Maintain confidentiality. :
Breaching confidence is not only unprofessional, it will cause you to lose your co-workers trust.
Do your part. :
If a co-worker has a heavy assignment, don't hesitate to help. It will be remembered when your load is piling up.
Be a friend to your teammates.
Work together on your problems and ideas and you may devise a whole new approach to problem-solving.
Gain your co-workers' trust by demonstrating honesty and integrity.
Work becomes more gratifying when you recognise that each person has unique qualities. You must make the best use of each of the team members unique qualities.
You may be asked to describe a task that you did not agree with. There may be situations, tasks or strategies of the company that you do not agree with. However, as a team player you would be expected to contribute to them to the best of your ability and bring them to a successful conclusion.
Teamwork is becoming increasingly important as it is accepted that one can accomplish more as a team.
