Assistance under Marketing Development Fund is provided by the Government for stimulating and diversifying the export trade. It is available in respect of the following purposes.
(i) Market research, commodity research, area survey and research
(ii) Export publicity and dissemination of information
(iii) Participation in trade fairs and exhibitions
(iv) Trade delegation and study teams
(v) Establishment of offices and branches in countries abroad
(vi) Grants in aid to Export Promotion Councils and other approved organisations
The Federation of Indian Exporters Organisation (FIEO) disburses MDA grants for the following four activities on behalf of the Ministry of Commerce.
(i) One person sale-cum-study tour(s) abroad
(ii) Participation in fairs / exhibitions abroad
(iii) Bringing out publications for use abroad
(iv) Advertising in foreign media
Export Promotion Councils / Commodity BoardslAPEDA/ MPEDA also grant MDA assistance for the above type of activities in conjunction with FIEO. MDA for other activities like opening of foreign offices, setting up of warehouses and after sales services, installations abroad, research and development work on products is disbursed directly by the Ministry of Commerce.
